Board certified dermatologist Dr. Ashley Curtis of The Griffin Center of Hair Restoration and Research is passionate about hair restoration and enjoys educating patients about hair loss prevention and hair restoration treatments. To further this end, she discusses various hair loss topics on YouTube as an added resource for those interested in learning more about hair loss. Recently, Dr. Curtis shared her thoughts on the benefits of using the automated NeoGraft® device to assist with follicular unit extraction (FUE) hair transplants.
During follicular unit extraction individual follicular units, each containing from one to four hairs, are extracted directly from a donor region at the back of the scalp, leaving small openings, approximately 1-mm in size. The NeoGraft® device acts as an extension of our skilled surgeon’s hand, using controlled pneumatic pressure to slide out the graft smoothly, without pulling or twisting which risks damaging the graft prior to hair transplantation. Because NeoGraft® holds the follicular units in a chamber to prevent them from drying out the grafts remain fresh and vital at the time of implantation, increasing the success of the grafting process.
