For almost four decades, the dedicated specialists at The Griffin Center of Hair Restoration and Research have treated thousands of patients, and we understand that hair loss in women can be very different than the forms of hair loss experienced by men. So we are proud to announce that we have formed The Griffin Center for Women’s Hair Loss, a new center devoted exclusively to addressing the unique issues associated with women’s hair restoration. At this state of the art facility, the only one of its kind in the state of Georgia, our experienced staff can devote the necessary time and attention to fully diagnose the specific causes of each patient’s hair loss and formulate a customized treatment plan that satisfies their individual hair restoration needs.
Research published by the American Hair Loss Council has found that as many as one out of every four women can expect to experience some degree of hair loss over the course of their lives, but until recently the subject of women’s hair loss was considered taboo and seldom seriously addressed. Today we know that women can be affected by genetic pattern hair loss, just as men can, but that they can also suffer from hair loss that may stem from any of a multitude of other causes, ranging from hormonal changes, menopause, thyroid abnormalities, or birth control pills, to physical stress from surgery, illness, anemia, or rapid weight loss, to the side effects of certain common medications. Understanding and addressing the many different causes of women’s hair loss, as well as exploring the most advanced hair restoration treatments, are the reasons that The Griffin Center of Women’s Hair Loss was formed.
In the past decade we have seen a dramatic increase in the number of female patients seeking hair restoration. Over the years, our experience and research have found that the causes of women’s hair loss require specialized diagnostic methods and treatments that are often very different from those that are traditionally used to treat men. This is why Dr. Griffin and Dr. Curtis felt that a center specifically devoted to addressing women’s hair restoration was so important. At The Griffin Center for Women’s Hair Loss, we continue to perform hair transplantation surgery using the most advanced techniques, but we also approach the issues of women’s hair loss more holistically, realizing that some women are better served by less invasive, more preventative measures. We make it a priority to extensively evaluate every one of our hair loss patients to be sure that all of the underlying causes of hair loss are addressed. Then, based on that comprehensive diagnosis, we formulate a treatment plan that incorporates all of the most effective non-surgical treatment options, like Red Light Therapy, Platelet Rich Plasma, prescription topical medications and shampoos, and even nutritional supplements, or hair transplantation if needed.
Women no longer have to simply suffer in silence, and the new Griffin Center for Women’s Hair Loss will finally allow us to provide them with the care and attention that they deserve.
