Both men and women can suffer from hair loss and many search for hair restoration options to achieve natural-looking results. Patients who experience significant hair loss may be good candidates for hair restoration surgery. Dr. Edmond Griffin and Dr. Ashley Curtis of The Griffin Center of Hair Restoration and Research offer the latest hair transplant surgery techniques to meet each patient’s unique hair loss needs. NeoGraft® with follicular unit extraction is one of the latest advancements now available to our hair restoration patients.
NeoGraft® is an automated hair transplant device used to assist Drs. Griffin and Curtis with the follicular unit extraction (FUE) technique. Follicular unit extraction is a minimally-invasive hair restoration procedure that harvests hair to be transplanted into thinning or balding areas of the scalp. This procedure removes follicular units, usually between one to four hairs per unit from a donor site generally located at the back and side of the scalp. The NeoGraft™ system makes small circular incisions to easily remove the follicular units with a light suction to safely catch and collect the grafts.
The NeoGraft® procedure differs from the traditional linear strip harvest technique by the absence of a linear scar in the donor area. With NeoGraft®, the donor tissue is not excised, as follicles are individually grafted so patients aren’t left with the typical resulting scar that occurs from the strip technique. The NeoGraft® system safely extracts the follicular units easily and prevents transection of the follicles; the openings are superficial and post-operative pain is typically minimal. Patients who like to maintain short hair styles, scar easily or are not satisfied from previous hair transplants due to extensive donor scars may benefit from FUE with NeoGraft®.
As hair transplant surgery is a very delicate process and to ensure optimal, natural results for each patient, Dr. Griffin and Dr. Curtis meet with each patient to thoroughly discuss their goals and expectations to devise the best treatment plan possible. We often have patients who are unsatisfied with previous hair transplant results from other centers. At the Griffin Center, all surgeries are performed only by our board-certified dermatologists Dr. Edmond Griffin or Dr. Ashley Curtis who both specialize in hair transplant surgery. This ensures optimal results.
