PRE-OP PREPARATION

Do I have to do anything special to prepare for a hair transplant procedure?

Dr. Griffin requests that one week prior to your surgical date you discontinue drinking any alcoholic beverages, and also discontinue the use of medicines such as: aspirin, ibuprofen-containing products, naproxen, and certain homeopathic vitamins. These products may cause slightly more intra-operative bleeding or bruising. Smokers must discontinue smoking for 2 weeks prior to the procedure to allow healthy blood and oxygen flow to the scalp. All preoperative care will be discussed at your pre-op visit, and written pre-operative information is available to download within our website.

Do I need to cut my hair short before my procedure?

No, we do not require or recommend that patients get a short haircut prior to the procedure. In fact, some length on the hair can help during the recovery period by covering the treated areas.
